My Story

Emily Anthony has worked in the non-profit sector in the Seattle area for her entire career. Since 2006, she has worked as a nonprofit consultant helping small to mid-sized organizations succeed at challenging tasks that are new to them, such as significantly increasing their fundraising, building a strong and engaged board, creating an ambitious strategic plan, or seeking and hiring a new executive leader.  Prior to becoming a consultant, Emily served in several very different capacities in the nonprofit sector, originally as a caseworker with families and children, and later as a program coordinator, trainer, and program evaluator.  In addition, her personal volunteer work and board service over the past 30 years in Seattle have informed her consulting work.  Emily has been an active volunteer and board member for many nonprofits that support reproductive rights, educational equity, and early learning.

In 2017, Emily, Julie Edsforth, and third partner, Mary Ellen Cunningham, decided to enhance and expand their executive search capacity by forming Clover Search Works. Recognizing that a leadership transition is a moment in the life of a nonprofit when skilled facilitation can have a big impact and that there seemed to be a dearth of search firms focused only on nonprofits, she helped found Clover in order to serve more organizations at that critical and exciting juncture. Clover works with progressive organizations of all shapes and sizes, helping them to find new executive directors, development directors, program directors, and other key staff roles. Emily feels incredibly lucky to work every day with people and organizations who are committed to making positive change, and she is continually inspired by seeing the real impact of all their hard work in our communities.

Originally from Massachusetts, Emily graduated from Harvard College. She holds a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health, and a Certificate in Human Services Management, both from the University of Washington.
